As part of my declutter process… I decided to tackle the monsters that were hanging in my closet.
You may have similar ones… let me paint the picture for you:
I have little monsters that like to hang around in my cupboard. they go under the disguise of clothes, but really… they are my “in case” clothes… You know: in case I lose weight, in case I gain weight, in case all my other stuff is in the wash… “in case” clothes. But actually… the reason I don’t wear them, is because they look quite crappy on me…Occasionally I confront them… ask them what they are still doing in my cupboard…But I can’t chuck them out… because they remind me that I spent good money on them, they are not falling apart… and who knows: maybe (just maybe) that look may come back into fashion again. So they sit there…When I move house… I grab them and take them with me…
It all seems really silly when I actually share this with you… but monsters lurk in most of our cupboards.
My wardrobe Monster…
I took 10 little monsters out of the cupboard… and starting to create a monster out of it…
My biggest lesson in doing this exercise…
- I was pretty blown away by how easy it was to pull 10 items of clothing – that were just “hanging” there.
- I felt a ton lighter afterwards
- I realised how clinging onto the monsters in my wardrobe… resulted in me being weighed down…
Which then inspired me to “re-work” my monster… and I created this:
By clinging onto our wardrobe monsters… they weigh us down!
There are still some other monsters lurking in there… but it’s ok… it’s a process – their time will come soon 😉
What about you?
Have you got monsters lurking in your cupboard?
How do you keep yours under control?
