Each month, I’m going to share some recent Pinterest pins to inspire your week…
…and some of the tips + tricks behind how I manage my pinterest boards!
[Let’s get you sorted on your pinning journey]!
This week… on Pinterest:
We all know that Pinterest is a great way to gather and curate your ideas… to plan events and other special moments in your life… and a fabulous source of interesting tips and tricks.
I’ve loved pinning all sorts of fabulous finds… and then being able to go back to them when I need to.
What I couldn’t get my head around, was how to use Pinterest for my business effectively.
It was only when I read this article around how to use pinterest in business, that a few penny’s started dropping for me.
After reading that article, I immediately took a quick look at my own page from an outsiders point of view… and it was quite the jumble sale of pins.
I was definitely sending many mixed messages about who I was and what I did, and what was of interest to me.
Then the debate started… Should I create a Pinterest board for my business, or not?
My delimma, is that I don’t just have one business… so if I listen to the pro’s suggestion, it would mean creating two separate pinterest boards [one for each business], and a personal board [for fun]… and it started feeling a little less fun, and a lot more work.
But the challenge is that my current board is such a mix of stuff.
I asked some pro’s for their thoughts… some advised that I should go for the individual options [which I understand from a branding point of view], and others suggested grouping it all together [from an ease point of view].
Which left me wrestling with both points of view in my mind.
Do I mix business with pleasure on Pinterest?
I have given this a lot of thought… whether my “thinking” is right or not… it feels right for now [aka: I reserve the right to change my mind at a later date], and this is how I plan to tackle my delimma.
1. I created a business page: FreshSage
My Objective: Because this business works mainly with companies to help them with their employer branding… it makes sense to focus this account around finding useful resources to them… and it will also be designed to create inspirational references for clients.
2. I converted my original personal page… to a business page: Inspiredbyemma
My Objective: Turn this account into a really great reference for Creative Entrepreneurs… where you can find resources to help your business rock!
But… I have also decided to leave my personal information in there… because I like how it helps you get to know me as an individual as well.
Two new boards I created for you this week:
Don’t worry, I’ll fatten them up soon… This is all a work in progress, and I still have quite a bit of sorting and deleting to do.
But the end result should really rock [so you may want to bookmark / follow me to keep in touch]!
