As a blogger… we put so much energy into writing really great stuff.
But where many bloggers fall flat, is in the sharing of all that awesomeness… and putting that awesomeness out there! I thought I’d share a few of my secrets on how to build social media presence [without losing your mind in the process]… This week, I’m sharing one of my favourite tools… CoSchedule.
It is the first tool in my bag of tricks, that has really saved my butt!
How to Build your social media presence… part 1!
For normal, sane people…
TIP 1: Seriously guys… START SMALL!
When you want to build your social media presence, it makes sense to start small.
You don’t have to be everywhere, and on every single social media account out there.
Start with one or two… get the hang of what you need to do… and then build it up from there.
TIP 2: Keeping Consistent
The trick / Key with social media… is consistency.
Regular posting and regular interaction will help you build your consistency.
Trying to be everywhere will kill you before you even get going properly [ps… another thing to note, is that this is a marathon… not a quick once off thing]
How big do I have to be on social media?
I suggest making sure that you build 2 or 3 social networks over time… Ideally you’d want to pick the ones your clients are on as a top priority, and then another one you enjoy.
I’m not one of those normal, sane people.
I love social media, and enjoy playing in quite a few sandboxes! My challenge, is that I have two businesses [and two of everything = eek]!
Granted, over time… I have gotten a little clearer on exactly where I want to focus… but at this moment – I’m currently playing in the following spaces:
- Facebook page
- Dream + Do Mastermind [For those who are a part of the Dream + Do Project]
- Dream + Do Club [For those who have signed up for my free Challenge: [RE]FRESH]
- Youtube channel
and overall [combined] profiles:
It’s just cray cray. Really!
So… how do I keep posting on all the channels without losing my mind?
I’ve discovered an app, that has been worth every cent [or dollar] that I spend.
It’s called: Co-schedule.
What is Co-schedule?
Technically: It is a content marketing and social media editorial calendar for WordPress
But what does that mean for you and I?
In the back end of wordpress, I’m able to write my blog content… and now I can schedule my social media sharing right from the same space.
Take a look at their awesome intro video explaining it in more detail
Let’s take a closer look into how I use it
I usually start off by writing a blog post… like this one.
Once I’ve made my changes… checked it online… added in some images… and made a few more final tweaks [it’s quite a process]… I hit publish.
That’s usually where some bloggers make their first mistake – they think that their job is done, right there.
In the past, I would copy the link… then go into Facebook and share it there… then into twitter, and share it there… wait a little bit, then pop into the next social media space and share it there… then hopefully I’d remember to share it again the next day / week.
Sheesh… I’m tired just thinking about it!
Now… after I publish my post… I just scroll down to my calendar [IN THE POST!!!]
As you can see… all in one space, I’m able to schedule all my posts for today, tomorrow, next week, and even next month!
I just choose which social media space to share it on – They automatically link to my accounts for me [as you can see, I currently have twitter, and two of my Facebook profiles linked]
and then I choose the kind of post I’d like to put out there [ie image post, or just text, or link post], like these:
And it automatically does all the work needed for that social platform… and gives me a visual of what I’d see in that space.
Lastly… I’m able to edit the date and time of the post…
…and it’s good to go!
Disclaimer: Granted… these guys are awesome enough to give me a discount for writing this post… but honestly, I’ve been happily paying the full price for a few months now – it is that awesome… I just knew I needed to share that awesomeness with you too, and I may as well get a little bonus for doing it 🙂
What is your time-saving social media life hack?
